March 12, 2017 - TORONTO – The third annual Vintage Auto Championship Series winner was crowned yesterday at the 2017 Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo held at the International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson Airport. The presentation came at the conclusion of another successful show for the  Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo  organizers and the VINTAGE Team.

A trophy and cheque presentation was made on the Johnsonville Stage on Sunday afternoon by Jason Wilson, Manager of VINTAGE Auto Insurance and Brian Reeds, President of Reeds Insurance in Lindsay ON (of which VINTAGE is a division). The anticipation was high, as the tournament had spanned the course of the 2016 show season and culminated with online voting during the winter “off-season”. A total of $10,000 in prize money was awarded in the 3rd annual Series.

“We couldn’t have asked for better representation in our third year,” said Brian Reeds, President of Reeds Insurance. “The standard of quality set by the first two season’s competition was easily matched this year. Talk about a classy group”  VINTAGE Manager, Jason Wilson, was also pleased to see the reaction to the additional vehicles that VINTAGE hosted at the Motorama Show. “We invited our qualifiers to come out and join the show, which gave spectators a real sense of what the Championship Series is all about. We even had the pleasure of including last year’s Champion “Copperhead”, owned by Mike Livia. VINTAGE was well-represented in Toronto this weekend - We’re so proud to be associated with such high calibre vehicles.”

VINTAGE is already planning the next tournament that will kick off in June.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED - VINTAGE is excited to announce that  Gord Gibbs was awarded the trophy and title of Grand Champion for his wicked 1936 Ford 3 Window Coupe, referred to as “Real Deal All Steel” throughout the tournament.

Runner-up Cliff Watson’s 1930 Ford Model A 5 Window Coupe, received 2nd place accolades. Both vehicles were on display at the Motorama Show, which took place March 10 through the12th. Car show enthusiasts filled the VINTAGE booth (located in Hall 2) to see both hot rods, chat with the owners, visit with the VINTAGE team and ogle the fantastic automobiles on display in the special ‘Qualifier Exhibit’ located directly across from the Vintage Auto Insurance booth. Lucky Wildcard and Semi-finalist winners also walked away with cheques in hand to celebrate their wins.

The show marks the end of the 3rd Annual Championship Series, which featured 14 vehicles chosen from prominent car shows and cruise events throughout Ontario during the summer of 2016. Two additional “Wild Card” entries were added to the mix from online submissions to create a “Sweet 16” list of eligible championship contenders. Online voting, which commenced in January of this year, whittled down the contenders in a bracket vote, resulting in “The Final Four.” Cash prizes were awarded to these four finalists, plus the Wildcard Winners.

The entire $10,000 purse prize for this show was proudly sponsored by Reeds Insurance, based in Lindsay ON. While Reeds Insurance is a full-service brokerage, VINTAGE AUTO INSURANCE was created specifically for the needs of classic car enthusiasts who hold their cars to a higher standard - and care for them accordingly.
